A Prayer for Addiction

"So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed."

β€” John 8:36

When the Chains Feel Too Heavy

Heavenly Father,

TodAy I come before You feeling trapped.

There are days when I want to change but feel powerless.

Days when I promise myself that this time will be different, only to find myself falling again.

Lord, You know every battle I face.

You see beyond my addiction and into my heart.

You know my fears, my regrets, my failures and my deepest longing to be free.

Thank You that You do not define me by my worst moments.

You call me by name.

You remind me that I am loved, even when I struggle to love myself.

Please give me the courage to take the next step toward freedom.

When temptation feels overwhelming, strengthen me.

When I feel discouraged, remind me that setbacks do not mean defeat.

Help me to ask for help when I need it.

Lead me to people who will support me with wisdom, honesty and compassion.

Heal not only my actions but also the wounds beneath them.

Replace shame with hope.

Replace fear with courage.

Replace despair with the quiet confidence that, with You, change is possible.

Lord, teach me to believe that freedom is not found in pretending to be strong, but in trusting You one day at a time.

Thank You for never giving up on me.

Walk beside me through every victory, every setback and every new beginning.

I place my life into Your loving hands.

In the name of Jesus Christ,

Amen.

🌊 Lighthouse Reflection

Recovery is rarely a straight road.

Some days will feel like progress.

Some days may feel like starting again.

Do not lose heart.

Every step towards healing matters.

Every honest conversation matters.

Every act of courage matters.

And remember...

Your addiction is part of your story.

It is not your identity.

πŸ“– A Verse to Hold Onto

"God is faithful; He will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, He will also provide a way out so that you can endure it."

β€” 1 Corinthians 10:13

🌊 Need More Support?

Prayer is a source of strength, but addiction often requires practical support as well.

If you are struggling, consider speaking with a trusted friend, your GP, a qualified counsellor, a pastor, or a specialist addiction service. Reaching out for help is not a sign of weaknessβ€”it is often one of the bravest steps a person can take.

And remember:

You are never beyond God's love.

You are never beyond hope.

You never have to walk this journey alone.
